Easy Italian Meatballs and Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Meatball Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 orange bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp all-around seasoning
  • 1 pack Italian mushroom spaghetti mix (optional)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Spaghetti Sauce Ingredients:

  • 2 cans tomato puree (28 oz each)
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 orange bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp dry parsley
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
    • In a bowl, mix the ground beef, bell peppers, garlic, onions, breadcrumbs, milk, and Parmesan cheese.
    • Season with onion powder, all-around seasoning, and fresh parsley. Shape into meatballs.
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until browned.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the bell pepper and sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft.
    • Add the tomato puree, chopped tomatoes, and all the seasonings. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add sugar at the end to balance the acidity.
  3. Cook the Spaghetti:
    • Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  4. Serve:
    • Combine the baked meatballs with the simmering sauce and let them cook together for an additional 5 minutes.
    • Serve the spaghetti on plates and top with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
